The best french toast recipe begins with the right ingredients
Our French toast recipe uses brioche bread. Due to its buttery, rich texture, it’s heavenly as a base ingredient.
But you can use your favorite bread if brioche isn’t available to you.
The key is that the bread can stand up to the egg custard without falling apart.
Best alternative choices would be Challah bread, with its eggy composition. Or French bread, with its crusty exterior, can make for a chewier bite.
Be bold and experiment.
Spice is nice
Cinnamon and nutmeg add a warm, delicious note to this dish along with a dash of pure vanilla.
During fall and winter months, substitute our Simple Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend.
Finish the French toast with a pat of butter and warm, excellent quality pure maple syrup. Dust the dish with confectioner’s sugar and serve with fresh fruit.
SAY NO TO SYNTHETIC SYRUP
Avoid imposters like “Pancake Syrup” or “Table Syrup.” Simply put, they’re not syrup, Foodie Friend.
